Incident management is one of the Environment Agency’s top priorities. Our ambition is to be a professional, trusted emergency responder; with a first class incident response capability to help people, businesses and the environment be more resilient to natural threats and environmental hazards. In 2018 alone, we protected properties from flooding, prepared for an approaching drought and responded to serious chemical incidents, very large fish kills, animal disease outbreaks, major fires and numerous other environmental incidents.

We are now looking for an Incident Management Business Partner based in our Kent, South London & East Sussex Area to:

• ensure we are resilient, and prepared to respond effectively to flooding and environmental incidents;

• ensure strategic and tactical multi-functional duty officers are trained and capable

• support, contribute to, and where appropriate lead on improvements for incident management;

• provide support, expert opinion and advice on incident management, emergency planning, assurance and business continuity issues;

• ensure we meet our duties as a category one responder, working with both internal colleagues across Area and National teams and external partners in the Local Resilience Fora;

• provide a structured debrief service;

• support our emergency response when incidents occur.
The Incident Management Business Partner is a national role in the Resilience Team. The Resilience Team is a large dispersed team of experienced emergency planners across the country. We balance the needs of business improvement, share good practice to develop and embed consistent ways of working and ensure our readiness to respond to and recover from incidents.

Ideally you will be based in Addington, with travel across the Area and nationally with occasional overnight stays.
You will be confident and articulate with a variety of audiences, with a proven ability in working with others to deliver results

You can demonstrate very strong verbal and written communication skills with a clear customer and business focus.

You must be able to prioritise a varied workload, work unsupervised and under your own initiative to continuously improve our incident management service;

Ideally, you will be an experienced emergency planner and have a good knowledge of the Environment Agency’s incident management business and ways of working.

A relevant degree or equivalent in emergency planning and membership with a professional body would be beneficial but not essential.

The post requires a full UK driving licence.
Expected salary range: £34,879 to £42,955 per annum
Location: Flexible within the Area
Note: this is a 12 month secondment into the Environment Agency. You will remain employed and paid for by your existing organisation.

Incident Planning
Undertakes strategic plans for the Agency’s response to incidents and ensuring Environment Agency staff are effectively prepared.

Incident Management Business Partners are critical posts based locally in each Area to provide technical incident management advice and guidance to the Area, manage local internal and external relationships and for delivery of multifunctional Area incident management. Driving licence
