Do you want to be at the heart of making a difference to communities across the East and West Midlands? Do you want to help reduce the flood risk to homes and businesses, increase the resilience of the country’s key infrastructure, overcome barriers to growth and investment and build strong, effective partnerships with public and private sector organisations?
The Trent Regional Flood & Coastal Committee (RFCC) is critical to the management of flood risk across the catchment and the optimisation of available funds deliver the most for its communities. We are looking for a motivated and self-driven Technical Leader to work alongside the RFCC and its members in order to unlock and enable delivery of their capital flood risk reduction projects. The post will run until end-July 2019.
The successful candidate will be experienced in project mandate/business case development and be confident working across the East and West Midlands and with a wide range of internal and external partners. You will lead a small team of specialists dedicated to supporting the delivery of the RFCC members’ projects so as to better protect their communities from flooding, while also linking into the national network of Advisors to capture, share best practice.
The team work from both our Lichfield and Nottingham offices and work with our partners across the East and West Midlands.
The team are funded by the Lead Local Flood Authorities to provide an effective link between our organisations and to help unlock and support their ability to deliver flood schemes for their communities.
The team work closely with the RFCC ensuring effective working relationships and to maximise the opportunities of all of our organisations.
Effective relationships are key to delivery and you will be experienced and skilled in working across organisations and communities, public and private, large and small, at all levels. As a key front-line leader within the East and West Midlands, you will be a confident and successful communicator, working in a key role between the Environment Agency and its Lead Local Flood Authority partners.
You will have a strong understanding of the Environment Agency, its roles and remits so as to get the best impact from your engagements with others and identify potential opportunities to get the best possible outcome from the collective resources available.

As a key leader in the flood family, you would also be expected to hold an incident role and contribute to our incident response across the West Midlands.

Therefore, you will not be eligible for continuous service.
