We are growing our Romney and Rother Asset Performance Team so that we can meet the demands of the next 18 months with confidence, to deliver the asset management ambitions of the Environment Agency.

You will lead areas of work to ensure we are managing our flood risk management assets as effectively and efficiently as possible; reducing the risk of flooding. As well as monitoring the progress of work, identifying gaps in delivery and taking the necessary remedial action, you’ll be on hand to respond to incidents and emergencies. You'll be a point of technical expertise for colleagues and stakeholders, focusing on area priorities.

Key activities you can expect to be involved with:-
• Project and Programme Management – delivering revenue projects to reduce flood risk. Overseeing the team programme, to ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget and funding is maintained.
• We are aiming to be accredited as a professional Asset Management organisation by achieving ISO 55000 status, you will liaise with the area lead to fully understand the compliance requirements and then co-ordinate the teams tasks accordingly.
• Proactive engagement with stakeholders who could be affected by or interested in asset maintenance in their area.
Our assets are diverse: from flood and coastal defences to earth banks, walls, pumping stations, flood storage reservoirs and sluices. They require constant management, maintenance and replacement. The Asset Performance team makes sure that all assets are inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe and effective manner to reduce flood risk for people and property. We also ensure that flood risk is managed by others, often inspecting assets and encouraging intervention if required.
A good understanding of the main elements of asset management and of Flood and Coastal Risk Management, and the Environment Agency’s ambitions for modernising asset management.
As a good communicator you will be able to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners as well as the general public.

You will have a good working knowledge of health and safety and excellent organisation skills. You’ll be an intelligent problem solver too, with a methodical work approach

Having a technical background and engineering knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential for this role.
