We are looking for motivated professionals who are keen to develop within the Regulated Industry part of our business. They will support teams with many and varied tasks associated with regulating industry. The emphasis of the posts are compliance work/technical administrative work. The work includes:

• Compliance work e.g. checking operator compliance with technical competence permit conditions. • Complete Compliance Assessment Report (CAR) forms for non-site visit compliance activities including technical compliance checks, waste returns and management system reviews.
• Receive/respond to enquiries, acting as a point of contact for the teams, ensuring all requests are tracked/responded to in an appropriate and timely manner. • Support on incident response.
• Support Environmental Permitting Regulations for high profile sites.
• Gather intelligence from sources to help target regulatory interventions.
• Providing and maintaining efficient systems.
• Maintaining public registers and permit records.
• Compiling monitoring returns.
• Provide general administrative support for compliance work including arranging/assisting with the supervision of intervention days.
• Assist Environment Officers with investigatory work i.e. intelligence checks prior to site inspections/maintaining MEMEX.
• Help Team Leaders to track compliance with Health & Safety requirements including maintenance of PPE.
• A central point of contact for procurement.
You will work across Regulated Industry who manage a large number of Environmental Permits across waste and process industry. The team is highly motivated in achieving outcomes for the environment and community we serve and we would welcome an individual with the same aspirations. At least one post will be based at Addington, the other post could be based at either Canterbury or Abbeywood offices and some travel to other offices will be needed.
• Qualifications required GCSE or equivalent.
• Motivated individual who is capable of problem solving and working with both internal and external customers.
• Must be thorough in their work to allow our data/systems to be accurate and up to date.
• Competent with Microsoft Office and computer literacy essential.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal colleagues and external customers.
• The successful candidate will enjoy working with people, and have a positive attitude.
• No direct responsibility for others and no requirement to train/develop others.
• The jobholder has freedom to decide which tasks to do first, or the order in which they are to be done but will be guided by the Team Leader or Senior officers.
• Carries out a combination of assigned tasks, mainly unsupervised, but guided.
• There is some need for combining existing ideas in new ways or adapting existing routines or practices.

There are two full-time, permanent roles available, at Grade 3 salary £22,433.

The Environment Agency is a Category 1 responder, you'll be expected to participate in the standby rota in response to incidents and a wider role during an incident which may include out of hours working.
