The Environment Agency's National Flood and Coastal Risk Management Directorate works to protect England from the risks of flooding.
We need an experienced Project Support Officer to help us deliver our ambitious portfolio.
This assignment (fixed term contract for external applicants) presents an exciting opportunity to join the FCRM Portfolio team of project and programme professionals, and play a part in delivering business change nationally across the organisation. We have a great culture and working environment, and there are rich rewards from the high-profile work we do to protect communities from the devastating effects of flooding and climate change.
We’re also recruiting for permanent position separately. If you’re interested, please apply for this as well.
Our track record for delivery is exceptional, and we pride ourselves on building a one team approach between the directorate and Operations colleagues.
Our portfolio of projects is valued at around £110m for the next 5 years, with long term major changes mixing with new projects following previous winters’ record floods and the ever changing climate.
It's an attractive opportunity for ambitious individuals, in a team known for its strong focus on support and development.
We expect the successful candidate to have experience of supporting projects within a formal project environment (Prince 2/MSP/Agile). You will have excellent planning skills and financial awareness. Attention to detail is essential. You will have the ability, training, flexibility and confidence to work on any project you are assigned to.
You must be comfortable working to tight deadlines, using your initiative, working in teams and managing your own workload. You need to be a good communicator, able to develop and maintain strong customer relations and adapt your behaviour to different situations and people.
Experience of using Microsoft office tools, including Microsoft Project, is desirable.
Closing date: 27th March 2018 at 23:55 hours

The team is Bristol based and there is a strong focus on team working and knowledge sharing. Successful candidates will be expected to work out of our Horizon House office in Bristol at least four days per week.
