The main responsibility for this role is to carry out routine electrical maintenance on our assets to a high standard. You will also perform fault diagnosis on industrial electrical supplies, and a varied range of electronic control systems. Some installation and modification work may also be required at times. The position is day-work, and after a probation period, you will be on a standby rota to operate assets for flood emergencies, and any other operational requirements. You may be required to work at height, over water or in confined spaces. All relevant training, tools and PPE will be provided. You will also have the opportunity for a personal development path.
Based at the iconic Thames Barrier in south east London, you will be part of the skilled MEICA Electrical Team, working on various types of electrical and electronic equipment at several large flood defence structures, and at other associated sites along the tidal Thames. You will also work closely with our Mechanical and Project teams to ensure total reliability of our assets at all times.
18th Edition qualification is required. You will be a time served electrician, or controls technician, with good experience of any industrial LV power distribution and control systems. Ideally have some knowledge of PLC systems, Inspection and Test, hydraulics, HV distribution, SCADA, instrumentation or telemetry. Have experience of using Microsoft products and computerised maintenance systems. Able to work to Method Statements and understand Risk Assessments. Be well organised, able to prioritise a varied workload and maintain attention to detail. Be self-motivated working well in team environment and under your own initiative.

Successful applicant will have to undergo a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC).

Occasional travel throughout the area will be required, a full driving licence would therefore be essential
The role will be based at The Thames Barrier. Details of interviews to be confirmed.

The role attracts inner London Weight currently £3629 per annum.
