An opportunity has arisen for 3 Asset Performance Advisors with civil engineering experience and excellent understanding of asset management to join our Devon, Cornwall & Isles of Scilly (DCIS) team.

Managing areas of work to ensure that flood risk assets in DCIS are reliable and resilient. As well as monitoring the progress of all work, identifying gaps in the delivery of priorities & taking the necessary remedial action, you’ll be on hand to respond to issues and emergencies. You'll be a point of technical expertise for colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

These roles can be quite varied and are likely to include several of the following

• Delivery of capital projects & revenue projects, including acting as Area Client by fulfilling our Senior User Role.
• Act as Site Responsible Officer for key flood risk assets.
• Technical leadership and development of officers within the team
• Third party asset liaison, ensuring information relating to asset performance is utilised by others to maintain flood protection
• Managing delivery of maintenance programmes via internal field teams and contractors
• Management of our survey programme to ensure accurate information is available
• Leading on asset data management to ensure we make informed decisions
Our assets are diverse: from flood & coastal defences to earth banks, walls, pumping stations, flood storage reservoirs, sluices & tidal barriers, requiring constant management, maintenance & replacement. Our Asset Performance team makes sure that all assets are inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained & operated in a safe & effective manner to reduce flood risk for people & property. We ensure that flood risk is managed by others, often inspecting assets & encouraging intervention if required.
You’ll understand and have significant experience in both flood risk and asset management and ideally be a qualified (Chartered or Incorporated) civil engineer. It is desirable that you’re are a member of a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE or CIWEM). You'll be educated to degree level in civil or mechanical engineering or be able to demonstrate comparable technical knowledge and work experience. Please don’t be put off applying if you don’t have a degree - we also value experience in the flood risk sector.

Experience of health and safety requirements and undertaking construction works in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 is advantageous.

Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills; proficiency in data and information management in order to make evidence-based decisions; the ability to coach and mentor others; and the ability to deliver results through others.

Full driving license is essential.
