You will ensure that the Environment Agency's fleet assets are fully and legally compliant, safe, efficient and effective in order to meet operational needs and minimise the environmental impact of the fleet.
The successful candidate will lead an operational team to deliver results on time, to required quality standards and cost, to fulfil the business plan and achieve / support environmental goals.
You will build and sustain effective relationships internally and with external suppliers in order to ensure continuing effective operation of the Environment Agency’s fleet and provide line management and support to the Technical Officers and Fleet Operations Coordinators in order to maximise their development and performance. You will lead on projects relevant to area of expertise to resolve operational issues and drive continuous improvement.
Fleet Operations is a National Service and the role of Fleet Operations Manager is covering a defined geographical area. The post holder will be a member of the Fleet Operations management team.

You and your team will be responsible for up to 1,500 fleet assets with a replacement value of £22million and an annual spend of £1.75million in relation to service, repair and maintenance.

Regular travel will be required, including overnight stays.
Ideally, you will hold, or be working towards a Transport Management Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
You will have a sound understand of the business and activities of a Fleet Management Function, and solid working knowledge of the technical legislation.
The successful candidate will be able to lead, coach and develop dispersed teams and to oversee the management of a technical support service.
You will be able to build networks, engage other managers and develop and communicate fleet management strategies.
