We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player who thrives in the high tempo environment of incident response. As part of the East Anglia Area Incident Team, you’ll be responsive, flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities. You’ll have a “can-do” attitude and be committed to creating a more resilient East Anglia for the communities and environment we serve.

The team is at the centre of incident response, supporting our readiness, resilience, recovery and review of our incident management activities. We are a Category 1 responder for a range of incident types. This post will contribute to the initial tactical response to an incident within office hours.

You’ll be involved in work across our portfolios; Tactical First Response, Training & Exercising, Emergency Planning, Flood Incident and Environmental Management. The role supports the planning and co-ordination of incident response activities. You’ll be working with internal colleagues and external partners. Activities will include training colleagues, supporting post incident reviews.

You’ll provide support to duty officers by becoming an expert in our incident management processes, acquiring the position of system(s) super user. You will be a proactive member of user networks and a go to person for advice and support.
You’ll be involved with:
•Managing and maintaining specialist incident management systems, incident rooms and equipment to ensure a state of readiness.
•Support delivery of training and exercising, contributing to production of materials, and facilitation of sessions.
•Building relationships throughout the area, understanding customers’ needs and providing the service required.
•Preparing and collating information, liaising with other teams, writing up details.
•Creating standby rosters
•Initial incident response planning and logistics.
•New ways of working projects.
•Competent IT and data skills, with the ability to pick up new processes and IT systems. We use MS Teams and SharePoint. Knowledge of these would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
•Able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
•Strong written and verbal skills to be able to explain how systems work and be a go to person for help.
•Be well organised, with attention to detail. Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
•Able to exercise judgement in prioritisation and highlight potential issues
•Adaptable to changing priorities, sometimes at short notice due to events.
•Self-motivated, working well as part of a team and individually.
•Have an interest in incident management.

This is a fixed term assignment until 14/11/2022 - INTERNAL CANDIDATES you must ensure agreement is gained from your line manager to apply.

We have flexible working arrangements. We are a dispersed team across 4 offices, predominantly work from home. Candidates can indicate a preference between Brampton and Ipswich.

As a Category 1 responder we operate incident rosters for a variety of roles. You would be supported to undertake one of these roles with training and remuneration.
