An opportunity has arisen to join the Sustainable Abstraction team in Operations Catchment Services of the EA and help to deliver the Abstraction Plan.

The abstraction plan covers all the regulatory tools and mechanisms that allow us to manage abstraction sustainably. The sustainable abstraction team acts as a national coordinator for programmes and supports EA Area colleagues in delivery. The Team is also responsible for collating programme data and information and reporting on environmental outcomes.

You’ll be comfortable managing large amounts of data and information to assist the team develop, maintain and track the various programmes of work and also allow us to report on environmental outcomes.
You’ll help to maintain that data, analyse and interpret that information, and communicate the results to a variety of internal and external audiences.

You’ll have experience of environmental planning and water resources and will be able to use that experience to provide support and guidance to operational teams in developing the programme in a consistent way.

You’ll be someone who looks for improvements and efficiencies to existing processes to ensure we make the best use of resources.

There will be opportunity to develop your project management skills to deliver projects .
The Sustainable Abstraction team sits within Water Resources Operations Catchment Services. We manage and co-ordinate the delivery of the sustainable abstraction programmes nationally. This includes building the WR elements of the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), input to the environmental destination of Regional Plans, managing the unused and under-utilised programme, classification and tracking of WFD improvements and also concluding delivery of the Restoring Sustainable Abstraction (RSA) programme.
We are seeking an individual with data analysis experience, and water resource experience would be beneficial but not essential. You’ll be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and preferably have, or be working towards, a specific professional qualification or membership of a professional body. You will possess proven ability of:

• Using strong communication and networking skills to influence or help deliver outcomes.
• Interpreting or evaluating evidence & data to propose effective solutions for challenging problems.
• National data collation & analysis as part of the operational quality assurance of WFD and RSA work.
• Shaping and facilitating change or new ways of working to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Have excellent customer focus acting on feedback

You should be comfortable with working as part of a dispersed team. You will be expected to travel for national meetings with occasional overnight stays.
