An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a leading role in Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management in the Cumbria and Lancashire Area. We are looking for a Senior Team Leader to lead in the creation of climate resilience places with local communities, stakeholders and delivery partners.

Cumbria and Lancashire has a history of significant flooding and with the onset of climate change this will require you and your team to innovate and collaborate to deliver flood risk projects that help communities adapt to the future.

You’ll be a key member of the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management leadership team and will need to forge constructive, collaborative relationships with peers across the Environment Agency, with other Risk Management Authorities, with the communities we serve and with our consultant and contractor delivery partners.

You will also contribute to the wider leadership of an Area of 400 people. You’ll be trained and exercised to play an important role responding to a range of environmental incidents and emergencies.
The Partnerships and Strategic Overview team brings the National Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy for England to life by having a wide-ranging remit that includes strategic planning, spatial planning, environmental permitting, investment strategy, data management, project development and advisory services, partnership working and community engagement.
We are looking for an experienced leader who can inspire, develop and motivate people to work well as a team to deliver. You will be able to actively collaborate with others to achieve better outcomes. Safety and well-being will be at the forefront of everything you do.

You should have a good understanding of the key issues relating to long term, sustainable Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management. The ability to operate at a strategic, operational and tactical level is required to translate the Environment Agency Action Plan into day-to-day activities for your team.
As an accomplished communicator, you’ll have a range of experience of working with diverse partners and customers at various levels, having difficult conversations and being resilient in the face of challenge.

You'll be willing to undertake specialist/or further training when necessary. There are fully funded opportunities to develop further academic/professional qualifications.

UK driving license is essential.
