You'll be pivotal to the future direction of our Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology team in Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Area with a focus on biodiversity advice and projects that deliver ecological outcomes. The key area of work is minimising ecological impacts from our own activities and delivering improved river, wetland and coastal habitats. You'll provide technical advice on ecological issues to internal customers focusing on biodiversity outcomes, mitigation and scheme design. You'll also manage a range of exciting projects and support project delivery by external partners.

The post is primarily patch based which means you will develop a good knowledge of a specific geography within Lincolnshire and will work in partnership with other teams and organisations to maximise its biodiversity. You will also lead on specific issues across our Area and have a close working relationship with our friendly and supportive team. The issues you lead on will be agreed once in post and there is scope to advance and develop your existing, and also new, areas of interest.
Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology provides technical advice and guidance both internally and externally, guided by our statutory responsibilities for environmental protection, improvement and regulation. Much of our focus is on Flood and Coastal Risk Management works and environmental outcomes and delivering multiple benefits. We also work closely with external partners to maximise ecological improvements in our Area. We are a team of enthusiastic people who want to deliver the best for the environment.
• We're looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent influencing and negotiating skills to join our team.
• You'll need a good knowledge of ecology and biodiversity, including relevant legislation.
• You'll need to have a range of experience in providing ecological advice to others.
• You'll be good at problem solving, have excellent communication skills and be a strong team player.
• An ability and willingness to undertake site visits is required.
• An awareness of a range of river management techniques would be helpful but is not essential.
• It would be great if you were a member of, or working towards membership of, an appropriate institute such as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
• A full driving licence is needed as regular site visits are needed to deliver the work.
• A passion for delivering environmental outcomes is essential.
