The Programme Team plays a critical role in the planning, monitoring and delivery of the Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) capital and revenue programmes. Our ambitious and continuously evolving programmes in the West Midlands will reduce the risk of flooding to communities across the area and contribute to the EA national target of 336,000 properties better protected.

We are looking for a programming specialist to join our high profile team to take on the role of principal advisor on the Area's contribution to the National FCRM capital and revenue programmes.

Our success relies on data and information management which is a central part of the role. Working closely with local partners and internal teams you can expected to be involved in the following:
• Collecting and analysing data on the Capital programme
• Embedding data management principles across Area teams
• Generating and analysing reports to enable decision making
• Leading and supporting on other high profile, non-financial elements of the FCRM Programme e.g. Carbon and Sustainability, Efficiencies
This role will report to the FCRM Programme Manager and form a core part of a collaborative and supportive virtual area programming team. Working with colleagues from FCRM, finance and the wider business you will be part of developing, managing and delivering the FCRM programme. The West Midlands team like to pave the way Nationally, you will be contributing to ways of working in a 'one business approach'.
You’ll need good Excel/data management skills. You’ll be comfortable learning and using new systems and processes to plan, track, gather and maintain data/information.

You should be able to demonstrate the following:
• Strong data management skills - there are multiple spreadsheets so good Excel skills, keen attention to detail, and experience of analysing/interpreting large data sets is essential
• Programme/project management knowledge and skills – you’ll be skilled at planning and managing multiple priorities to tight and competing deadlines
• Good communication skills – you’ll be producing high quality reports and papers, contributing to meetings, and turning complex information into user-friendly outputs
• Ability to develop and maintain good relationships – you’ll be providing technical advice and support to the Programme Manager and other teams
