We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, organised team player to lead a new technical team within the National Appraisal Unit in OCS, National Operations. The role is to lead a newly formed team made up of water resources specialists who provide technical advice and leadership to proposed new Water Resources Infrastructure.

As Technical Group Team Leader you will:

• Provide leadership, health safety and wellbeing of the team and oversight of the teams work plan
• Provide monitoring and decision making on resources to ensure effective, efficient delivery of the programme of the team
• Influence, persuade and motivate people to succeed through exemplar leadership skills and behaviours and manage interpersonal and incident scenarios
• Enable team members to deliver their technical work by building strong relationships with other team leaders across operations and E&B to resolve workload and priority conflicts
• Recruit, develop and motivate team members
• Lead or support routine liaison with RAPID to jointly plan future approach
Positioned within Operations Catchment Services and working closely with Natural England, the ‘National Appraisal Unit’ oversees the environmental assessments of significant Water Resource supply options and provides timely, consistent, and robust evidence based recommendations to RAPID and other key stakeholders. The team supports the wider business by providing project management and technical skills and resources. The Technical Group provides technical input across water resource related disciplines on behalf of our Areas.
Ideally looking for an experienced team leader with knowledge of water resources planning or assessment. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be complimented by your enthusiasm to achieve results and your ability to lead and coach others to do the same.
Through your experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:

• Political awareness and sensitivity when dealing with customers and stakeholders
• The expertise to work across the EA to advise on best available solutions
• The ability to work collaboratively with other Team Leaders and Managers
• An aptitude for managing the commercial and political aspects of the Water Resources programme and projects
• Effective in leading people, with strong motivational skills
• Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Good planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales
