This is an exciting opportunity to join a front line regulatory team that responds to environmental incidents, regulates permitted sites and tackles illegal waste activity. We represent and protect the environment and ensure that waste activities in our area are regulated and supported to deliver positive environmental outcomes.
As an entry level role, there is opportunity to grow in this role and build your career. You will be the initial point of contact for our busy teams. You will provide timely and accurate support helping to maximise our delivery of incident, enforcement and regulatory activities.
You will work flexibly to interact with customers, internally and externally and have regular contact with the public. You will maintain data and information systems, ensuring that records are stored effectively, are up to date and readily accessible to facilitate team activities. You will chase and track information, and collate data into basic reports to assist others in making decisions on operational and regulatory activities. You will maintain a good customer focus, ensuring customer enquiries are dealt with politely and efficiently. You will provide support to officers compiling cases.
Our EPR Waste teams respond to incidents of all kinds across Wessex Area (Somerset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Dorset), while regulating permitted sites. The teams work with customers to understand issues, influence behaviour and encourage good practice. They ensure permits are fit for purpose, carry out compliance checks at regulated sites, gather intelligence and investigate illegal activity. They take action to stop or disrupt illegal activity, taking enforcement action and presenting evidence in court.
Can you organise and plan your own work, use Microsoft based applications, and be tactful with customers? Are you self-motivated and willing to learn about our internal IT systems and procedures? Knowledge of waste or environmental issues will help you, but are not essential. Drivers Licence
If you are applying from the Civil Service please note that the Environment Agency is not a part of HM Civil Service and you would not be a Crown Servant in the event of being appointed. Therefore, you will not be eligible for continuous service.
