The role will be quite varied. Successful candidates will work on one or more of the following:
• Delivery of revenue and capital projects, either programming and monitoring works or delivering asset repairs
• Management of information to deliver our maintenance programme via internal field teams and our contractors
• Mentoring staff
• Seeking efficiencies with the current maintenance programme.

Good communication skills are essential as the successful candidate will liaise with river users and internal staff as part of managing the navigation.
Changing and challenging priorities may mean that successful candidates are required to work in areas of challenging work outside those mentioned above.
The Waterway Asset Team consists of 5 staff members who manage the Waterway capital programme, routine revenue maintenance and repairs covering 568km of navigable rivers throughout Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. The work carried out is essential for the delivery of our statutory duties and for the safety of river users.
1. Knowledge and experience of asset inspection and maintenance.
2. Project management experience including letting/managing contracts with a good understanding of health & safety plus environmental, heritage, social and political issues.
3. Managing budgets to deliver value for money and achieve efficiencies.
4. Experience of CDM Projects. Ideally authorised to undertake the 'Client' role.
5. Monitoring the effectiveness of projects and programmes to ensure compliance with Environment Agency and partners policies, procedures, legislation and audit requirements; with particular reference to health & safety, environment and heritage issues.
6. Ability to work under pressure, to financial targets and deadlines.
7. Communication skills.
