We have an exciting opportunity in our Customer and Engagement team and we are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual who is passionate about making a difference.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious engagement professional to work in a dynamic team, making a real contribution to the current environmental agenda.

Working closely with your colleagues, you will provide a high level of service to help meet the diverse needs of internal and external customers, stakeholders and communities. Using your knowledge of the relevant operational instructions, you will ensure that outputs are timely and of appropriate quality.

Building and maintaining productive and influential relationships with customers and partners will be at the heart of your role, as will ensuring that communications, especially those around sensitive and emotive issues, are clear and consistent.

You will also:
• Lead executive correspondence from members of the public and through Defra
• Support the team, the Area Manager and Area Leadership Team with MP engagement
• Advise teams across the business of engagement best practice and enable, mentor and coach others to deliver outstanding customer focus
• Support communications and engagement during incidents
The Customers and Engagement team are responsible for providing excellent customer service across a wide range of customer enquiries, maintaining government relations and providing engagement advice and support to our wide ranging area teams.
You will:
- have experience of working to communicate and engage with stakeholders and communities, using a range of appropriate methods and techniques
- have a track record of building effective relationships with people within and outside your organisation
- have good communication, influencing and networking skills

- be able to analyse and understand complex issues and identify the communications implications

- appreciate how communication and engagement activity can contribute to changing behaviour

- be able to manage work and deliver results in a fast paced and changeable environment, both to tight deadlines and over the long term
- manage, interpret and convey complex information clearly, effectively and sensitively

Experience of delivering a public consultation would be advantageous.
The Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire area covers a range of potential base locations, including Lincoln, Peterborough and Kettering. The post holder could be based in any of these locations. At present all members of the team are working from home due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
