There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced civil engineering, commercial manager to join a great team and make a difference in the delivery of a significant programme of work. Working in partnership with our Hub Delivery Managers you will take a leading role in assuring our post-contract commercial activities. You’ll be overseeing the commercial governance of our contracts with our key delivery partners. You will give commercial advice to our teams in order to help them maximise their budgets and demonstrate value for money.

You'll be able to help set up and manage complex programmes of work that embed best practice, and develop long-term collaborative partnership arrangements that deliver for both us and society.

You won’t be alone. The Contract Assurance & Framework Management Team provides country-wide support to a number of our Delivery Teams accessing several discreet frameworks and standalone contracts. You will be seen as a champion of effective governance and commercial assurance and you will quickly develop excellent relationships internally and externally, to become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations within our Operations Asset & Programme Management Business.

These roles are based in our teams in Birmingham (currently Solihull, moving to central Birmingham) and Peterborough.
The Portfolio Assurance Team provides direct support and advice to Operations Asset & Programme Management Business. The Contract Assurance & Framework Management Team is responsible for the commercial and framework expertise and advice provided by Portfolio Assurance. In joining the team you will be joining a small group of dedicated professionals who enjoy a reputation for getting things done efficiently and for doing them well.
With a degree in Civil Engineering or similar, and membership of a relevant professional body. You will have in-depth knowledge and experience of negotiating or advising on NEC 3 or 4 contracts for government or large commercial departments.

In addition, holders of the IACCM (International Association Commercial Contract Management) Advanced Practitioner qualification and/or a higher education qualification in contract law or similar would be an advantage.

A stickler for efficiency, and an experience team player, you’ll enhance our commercial assurance programme, and be an engaging communicator used to advising colleagues, managing change and influencing senior figures.
Benefits include generous pension provision and leave entitlement. Our flexible working practices support a healthy work/life balance and offer options to help accommodate personal commitments. Excellent training and learning opportunities are available, including personal and professional development.

Salary: £44,477 - £49,000 (an uplift in salary will be considered for exceptional candidates).
