We are seeking a number of Environment Officers across our Land and Water, and Waste Regulation teams based within the Solent and South Downs Area.

The Land & Water teams work with and regulate a variety of environmental stakeholders including the agricultural, water resources, and wastewater treatment sectors. You will focus on improving, and preventing deterioration to our rivers, lakes, groundwater aquifers and coastal waters.

The Waste Regulation teams work to improve compliance at permitted waste sites and across the waste sectors. You will be on the frontline, helping us to create a cleaner, safer and healthier environment.
As an Environment Officer you'll be an environmental champion. Your work will be vital to the protection of the environment and will be extremely varied and challenging. You'll work as part of a team using a range of tools from advice and guidance through to enforcement to achieve the best environmental outcomes. Incident response is a cornerstone of our organisation requiring you to investigate, advise and communicate with a wide range of customers.
You'll be skilled at interpreting complex information and use this to communicate effectively with customers. You'll be able to make informed decisions, influence and persuade businesses and individuals enabling them to comply with current legislation. You'll have a minimum of:
• An A Level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, with experience working in industry, the environmental sector or have an enforcement background, or
• A degree in a relevant subject, where related work experience would be beneficial.

You must have the strength of character to deal with challenging and sometimes confrontational situations in a professional manner.

As the role involves responding to environmental incidents, occasional out of hours work may be required. You’ll also need to travel to various offices and field locations across Sussex and Hampshire, so a full driving licence is required.

Assessment Centres will be held on 1st, 2nd and 3rd August 2017, if successful at the application stage you will be only required to attend one of these dates.
