We are looking for an Environmental Monitoring Officer to help lead, carry out and deliver our environmental monitoring and investigations programme. The role will include field based ecology and water quality work along with data analysis, interpretation and reporting on all environmental quality data using both standard and bespoke computer applications. The role includes invertebrate analysis both in the laboratory and in the field. The information we produce is essential in contributing to the delivery of our monitoring programmes, required to fulfil our National and European commitments.
The analysis and reporting team provides ecological and water quality data to support and feed into all monitoring obligations. It delivers a vital scientific service that underpins much of the Environment Agency's statutory responsibilities relating to National and International legislation.
We are seeking an Environmental Monitoring officer with a good knowledge of aquatic ecology. They are likely to have had several years experience in field, office and laboratory activities. The officer must have proven ability or knowledge of data analysis and interpretation, preferably being able to relate chemical metrics to corresponding biological data to input in to reports required for various legislation including the Water Framework Directive.
