Role – Investigator – National Enforcement Service (Intelligence) Illegal waste Exports team
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work as Environmental Crime Officers (grade 4) as part of the National Enforcement Service. The role will require an Investigator to work within the Transfrontier shipment work stream, and will be geographically located to undertake work to prosecute those sites and subjects that facilitate the movement of Illegal waste through exports outside the UK. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate through experience that they have a full understanding of delivering criminal investigations and producing high quality files complying with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA).
The National Intelligence Waste Exports team sits within the National Enforcement Service and is a dedicated resource that works to prevent, disrupt and prosecute those that facilitate the movement of Illegal waste through exports outside the UK. The Team covers the whole of England and works closely with other competent authorities within the UK as well as Eire and EU. The team is geographically dispersed with the Core Exports team at Sapphire House, Solihull.
Extensive experience of working within an intelligence led discipline involving crime detection and regulation. The level of competence expected would normally be achieved following considerable proven experience in front line delivery.

An established knowledge of criminal investigation procedures and its application to complex serious or major investigations. The level of expected experience would normally have been gained having performed a role within a law enforcement environment or similar.

Can show a high degree of organisational awareness and has experience of balancing the needs and expectations of internal and external customers.

Must be able to comply with appropriate procedures/policies in the delivery of service, including storing information in accordance with current legislation. The successful candidates will also have a good working knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act. With proven record of producing high quality prosecution files in a timely manner.

• Location – Sapphire East, Solihull. You will be required to regularly attend the port of Felixstowe for up to 2-3 days at a time dependant on evidencing needs.
• Travel – national travel will be required including occasional overnight stays.
• Standby/call – none although some out of hours work is required
• Driving – a full driving licence is required. (The job will involve driving Environment Agency vehicles).
• Successful candidates may be required to undertake security clearance vetting.
