You will be responsible for providing an efficient support service to the Northumbria Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC). You will also support nominated sub-committees and groups, covering other meetings when required.

Key activities to support the Committee will include:
• Act as the secretariat for all Committee meetings and sub groups
• Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders (including DEFRA appointees and local councillors)
• Act as the main point of contact for engagement with Committee members
• Lead on the recruitment and induction of new members to the Flood and Coastal Committee
• Lead for the Area on overall governance of the Committee, in line with legislation and Defra/Cabinet Office guidelines

Key activities to support the Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Programme will include:

• Liaison between Environment Agency Committee appointees and Environment Agency officers
• Supporting Committee members learning and development
• Supporting Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authority officers on briefing Committee members
• Liaison with internal teams, including communications teams, national programme team and national Committee network
The programme team manages the Area's FCRM capital and revenue programmes and supports the Northumbria Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC). In 2017/18, we will oversee £30m of capital and revenue expenditure which will better protect over 1,000 homes from flooding and coastal erosion risks, maintain our FCRM assets, as well as creating new wildlife habitat. We work closely with other internal teams, the Committee and Risk Management Authorities to develop and monitor the programmes.
Essential:

• Good communication skills, including experience of working with senior members of staff
• Able to build strong working relationships with partners
• Experience and understanding of providing consistent, high quality customer service

Desirable:

• Knowledge of the Environment Agency and the work it does
• Experience of supporting Committees
• Experience of taking formal minutes in meetings
