We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to lead, direct and motivate a front-line Field team in Hertfordshire and North London Flood and Coastal Risk Management Operations.
Managing our Field Team for the Upper Colne area, you will ensure they are ready to respond to any flooding incident or emergency. Your team will deliver a fast paced programme of maintenance works for our rivers and flood risk management structures which are essential for protecting people, property and wildlife.
You should have outstanding leadership qualities, and be able to remain positive and focused on the key priorities, using your initiative to take timely decisions, and manage and prioritise a varied workload. You will have a strong commitment to people- supporting your team’s personal development and ensuring your team is trained to the highest standards, and up to date with all health and safety and construction legislation and requirements.

The Upper Colne Field Team, based out of our Hanwell depot, will be led by you with the support of two specialist team members, who will assist with managing the team’s workload, which comprises of:
• Preparing and responding to incidents (both flooding and pollution)
• Delivering the Environment Agency’s flood risk maintenance programme
• Maintaining flood defence assets and other Environment Agency equipment on the ground

Passionate about the environment, you will have experience managing a team and delivering results through others. You should have some operational flood risk management or construction/maintenance management experience and aware of current health and safety and construction legislation.
Through experience you should demonstrate some of the following:
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to delegate and track performance effectively.
• Effectively leading people, with strong motivational skills and to act as a role model with a can-do approach.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and practices with experience of managing small scale construction/maintenance projects safely.

• Able to operate computer programmes with good IT skills.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
