As an Estates Residential Surveyor you’ll be an integral part of the Estates Service, reporting to the Senior Residential Surveyor you’ll work directly with our wider team of surveyors with a focus on managing our residential portfolio.
Whilst working in this role, your work will keep your days varied and interesting.
In your role as an Estates Residential Surveyor your work will include;
Managing tenancies, including sign up and move out.
Undertaking annual property inspections as well as ad hoc inspections.
Acting as CDM client.
Instructing day-to-day repairs, checking completion and approving payment of invoices.
Instructing and liaising with external building surveyors on complex repairs and projects.
Prioritisation of works and preparation of planned and cyclical maintenance whilst keeping within budgets.
Monitoring rent accounts and managing the collection process for arrears.
Liaising with internal clients and other teams.
Input and Commissioning of some major works.
Deputising for the Senior Housing Surveyor.

Our Housing portfolio includes nearly 100 properties most of which are located along the river Thames, this is the area that you’ll be mostly working in; travel to these remote and picturesque locations will be required, a vehicle will be provided for you to carry out this work.
Our Estates team has 113 people, offering professional support for Environment Agency land, property, compensation and valuation matters. We're core to the delivery of the Environment Agency's capital programme to better protect 300,000 homes.

Our experienced teams deal with the land and compensation aspects of a very diverse project programme. They also manage the Environment Agency's large property portfolio comprising approx. 100 houses and circa 25,000 hectares of land,
Working as an Estates Residential Officer in the Environment Agency will mean that the environment is at the heart of everything you do; your work will ensure that we maximise our financial profits and drive forward positive environmental outcomes for our local communities.
RICS qualified or with a level 3 Chartered Institute of Housing membership or equivalent you’ll have a proven track record of delivering results in an operational environment.
You’ll have an excellent understanding and working knowledge of property management and Health and Safety requirements.
As an excellent communicator you’ll demonstrate your ability to tailor your language and style to suit both your customers and the contractors that you’re dealing with.
With urgent repairs to deal with good prioritising and excellent time management is essential. You can demonstrate how you manage workload to meet deadlines, adhere to safety regulations and meet customer expectations whilst keeping in line with budgets.
With a focus on our customers, this role will involve regular travel around your work area including some remote locations and local and national travel. A full and valid driving licence is essential. You will be provided with a vehicle to carry out this work if required.
