We’re looking for an engineer with an instrumentation and telemetry background to undertake the commissioning maintenance and development of a wide range of water quality monitoring equipment and associated infrastructure. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all our monitoring systems are installed, commissioned and operated in accordance with the Agency’s code of practice for electrical safety.
The team provide monitoring services to clients across the Environment Agency to commission, maintain and calibrate a wide range of fixed and portable instrumentation for the measurement of a range of in–situ chemical and physical parameters.
The NLSI are also responsible for the development and provision of the Environment Agency's real time water quality telemetry systems. The data produced by the water quality field equipment forms a key part of the Agency's statutory monitoring obligation.
We’re seeking an engineer with extensive experience. You will have an electrical/electronic engineering background, be formally qualified or with substantial and relevant vocational experience.
The engineer must also possess expert knowledge of and capabilities in the following disciplines:

Electrical /Electronic engineering

An understanding of PLC control systems and instrument integration

Electrical/ Mechanical fault finding

Fully competent mechanical, electrical and instrumentation fitting skills

Maintenance of electro mechanical installations. Understanding of pump/ sample delivery systems, automation and industry standard communication protocols.

Other key requirements for this job include good communication skills, proficiency in word, excel and database management along with a passion for innovation and problem solving.

The role will be based at Caversham Lakes near Reading but will involve extensive travel to field locations nationally. A lease car will be provided for this post.

The post requires a full UK driving licence.

Full UK License
