In this role the successful candidate will be based in our offices at Solihull working as a Disclosure Officer on complex criminal investigations involving significant volumes of evidence and unused material relevant to the enquiry.
The successful candidate will perform the role on serious and significant environmental crime cases in compliance with CPIA 1996 and related legislation and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To assess all material generated during an investigation by applying the guidelines and Code of Practice as set out in the Criminal Procedures and Investigation Act 1996, as amended by the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
2. To assess the unused material for relevancy, sensitivity and the ability to undermine the prosecution case or assist the defence.
3. Produce disclosure schedules using appropriate documentation ensuring that the description of each item is detailed and accurate.
4. Identify deficiencies with continuity or other matters and develop close relationship with Senior Investigating Officer and Legal to ensure that any material that has the potential to undermine the prosecution case or assist the defence is highlighted at the earliest opportunity.
5. Liaise with Legal, other agencies and counsel at conferences to discuss disclosure issues, public interest immunity issues and defence arguments.

Our team based in the midlands is responsible for disruption, prevention and enforcement of serious environmental crime across the region.
It is essential that you have proven and well evidenced experience in an investigative role and are able to understand the complexities and sensitivities of crime investigation. You will have considerable knowledge of and experience as a Disclosure Officer. You will also have proven ability to adapt your communication style to a diverse range of audiences and situations.

1. Experience of performing the role of Principal Disclosure Officer on large scale investigations.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the Criminal Procedures and Investigation Act 1996, Disclosure Manual and relevant amendments to disclosure requirements.
3. Experience of preparing case files and attendance at Magistrates and Crown Court.
4. Ability to produce detailed and accurate reports.
5. Work to specific and agreed time scales.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Evidence of attendance at Disclosure Course.

A full driving licence is considered essential as capability to travel across the Midlands region and potentially further afield in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly are required.
