The successful candidate will be the technical contact for colleagues and customers. The role will also influence across the Environment Agency to minimise ecological impacts arising from our own activities and to maximise ecological improvements guided by our statutory responsibilities for environmental protection improvement and regulation. Applicants must be prepared to work across a range of issues as and when the situation demands. Key areas of work include building partnerships, managing and developing a programme of works as well as securing resources to deliver more and better environmental outcomes.
The Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology Team (North) covers the geographical area of South London, Thames Estuary and Mole catchment, however the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to area wide initiatives. The major focus of the team is inputting into major Flood Risk and Coastal Management capital schemes, establishing partnerships to deliver priority habitat creation and river habitat enhancements, area enforcement and survey.
The successful candidate will have good knowledge of biodiversity and demonstrate expertise in a least one field. They will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of on-the-ground delivery and of working effectively with others. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and focus on priorities is essential. A strong focus on delivery of outcomes and, ideally, project management skills is required. Excellent communication and influencing skills are required and experience of building and developing partnerships is valuable. A knowledge of environmental legislation is required.

Though the role is based at Rivers House Abbey Wood or Orchard House Addington, it is expected that the successful candidate will work closely with Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology colleagues at Orchard house Addington. The role entails high risk activities, and a good understanding of health and safety is required. The role will entail some out of hours and weekend working. A full driving licence is an advantage.
