We’re looking for an Environment Assistant to provide technical administration support within the South and East Water Resources Technical and Advisory Team of the River Basin Management Service (RBMS). You will be expected to:
• provide a comprehensive technical administrative support service to the line manager and wider team, ensuring efficient systems are in place to maximise the effective use of time;
• research and compile information/briefing material to enable effective, clear and concise understanding and action;
• develop and maintain a strong customer focus to ensure effective relationship building and partnership working to achieve environmental goals;
• maintain and develop information storage and retrieval systems and ensure that information is up to date and readily accessible to facilitate departmental workflow;
• make an active contribution to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of any work undertaken.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who wants to develop a career in water resource planning and play their part in shaping the future of strategic water resources in England.
The River Basin Management Service works to secure the greatest possible outcomes across key stakeholders, influencing significant investment in the water environment. The WR Technical and Advisory teams are the engine room of the service and provide technical analysis and delivery around strategic planning for water resources. The teams work together to ensure that functional skills are enhanced and developed through a portfolio approach, aligned to key customers such as water companies.
The role would suit an individual seeking to develop their technical water resources planning knowledge, developing new skills and embracing new ways of working. We are seeking someone who is good at building and sustaining working relationships. You’ll be well organised, able to manage yourself and your own work effectively, working under your own initiative. You’ll have good written and spoken communication skills and have experience of data and information management. Technical WR skills/knowledge would be beneficial.

You should understand and be comfortable with the challenges of remote working as part of a dispersed team. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to travel to meet with water companies and to national meetings with occasional overnight stays. The preferred location will be hub offices in the South & East - Reading or Peterborough offices.
