This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Thames team as the Area Flood and Coastal Risk Manager. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with strong leadership skills who can continue to drive forward our capital works programme and strengthen our incident planning and response capabilities. As part of this you will lead and develop the Partnership and Strategic Overview, Flood Resilience and Programme teams. Your work will be conducted in an environment that: makes the people you work with happier; focuses on health, safety and wellbeing; embraces emergent leadership; and supports your own development. The successful candidate will work closely with two Area Operations Managers, the project directors for the Oxford Scheme and the River Thames Scheme along with colleagues from the national FCRM Directorate and Operations. Working with external partners is also a key part of this role. In Thames we work hard to develop staff and work with customers to continually improve our business.
You will lead and support our Partnership and Strategic Overview, Flood Resilience and Programme teams. Collectively we deliver our capital programme, our flood incident service and our statutory duties.
We are looking for applicants who believe that providing great leadership is fundamental to our ability to protect people and the environment. You must be passionate about developing other people and innovative in your thinking. The successful candidate will have consistently demonstrated the behaviours required to support the rest of the area leadership team. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate significant experience in Incident Management in leadership and development. Experience of developing and maintaining external collaborations and partnerships is desirable.
For further information please contact Marjorie Dennett-Clayton on marjorie.dennettclayton@environment-agency.gov.uk. This role will be based at Wallingford, some travel will be required. Interviews will take place in October 2019.
