This is an exciting opportunity to influence how we work with stakeholders and communities on one of the largest flood risk management strategies in the UK. This is a new role working on the 2020 Review of the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan, which sets out how the Environment Agency and partners can work together to manage tidal flood risk in the Thames Estuary to the end of the century. As the Engagement Advisor for the team, you will advise, shape and support the team to deliver an engagement plan for the 2020 Review, the first full review of the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan.

The team’s vision is for a collaborative project. They want to work with partners, stakeholders and communities to bring in local and national knowledge and expertise, and produce an updated, co-owned Thames Estuary 2100 Plan which has been shaped by our partners. You will be instrumental in enabling the team to do this.
As part of this collaborative project you will organise and facilitate workshops and events, set up and manage public consultations, produce excellent engagement materials, and be a key link for the team into the wider Thames Estuary 2100 engagement network.
The role will report into the Thames Estuary 2100 Senior Engagement Advisor and work with the 2020 Review team, who sit within the London Area Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) team. They are responsible for delivering a fast-moving and innovative project.

The team is part of the wider Thames Estuary 2100 programme, which includes teams who work across London and the Thames Estuary. You will work closely with engagement leads from across the programme.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to influence and work with a wide network of people including the project team, colleagues across the Thames Estuary, our partners and stakeholders.

You should:
- have knowledge and experience of the engagement planning process (understanding of the Environment Agency’s Working With Others approach is desirable)
- be able to create high-quality, plain English engagement materials in different formats and for different communication channels
- be confident engaging with colleagues and external stakeholders from different backgrounds
- have experience of organising and facilitating workshops and events
- be comfortable using different working styles and flexibility to adapt to an evolving situation and priorities
- be self-motivated and able to drive and manage your own workload successfully
- have an eye for opportunities and innovation
- have an enthusiasm to learn about the project and develop new skills

The role will be based in our 2 Marsham Street office in London, with occasional travel to other area offices within the South East and to meetings or events within the Thames Estuary.
