As part of the Field Operations team you will operate and maintain assets to prevent flooding within the catchment areas of the River Great Ouse. This role requires the post holder to live on site at Denver Sluice Complex, a site of flow and water level management structures. You will be required to work a rota requiring weekend and public holiday working. You will also assist in the passage of boats through Denver Lock and provide excellent customer service.
The Operations Field team is responsible for delivering a maintenance programme on rivers and watercourses across the area. During a flood event, the team operates its assets to deliver the Environment Agency’s operational response in collaboration with our partners. We provide advice and support to our colleagues in Asset Performance, Hydrometric, Biodiversity and Environment Management teams. We also work across the country when called upon to assist other areas in incident response and environmental incidents.
You will have excellent customer service skills that will serve you to work with internal and external partners as well as the general public.
You will be self-motivated with good organisational skills and are able to demonstrate a meticulous, conscientious and logical attitude to your work. You need to be aware of, or have a working knowledge of a range of IT packages.
Your communication and interpersonal skills will be complimented by your enthusiasm and ambition to achieve defined deadlines and targets.
You’ll need to be available for 24 hour standby roster arrangements.

The grade rate for the role is £22,211.

You'll need to hold a full UK driving licence.
