We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to work within the Analysis and Reporting Team of the Environmental Monitoring Department. The duties of the Environmental Monitoring Officer will include undertaking specialist water quality surveys, sample and data analysis and reporting. The post holder will have an academic background and experience in Water Quality and be able to provide a broad overview across environmental science. Experience in Freshwater / Marine ecology a useful but not essential requirement.
This post plays a lead role in the delivery of the Revised Bathing Waters Directive and also contributes to the Freshwater and Marine monitoring investigation programme for the Water Framework Directive.
There will be a requirement to undertake field work and travel across the Area (vehicles will be provided). As a result the post requires a full driving licence.
The Analysis and Reporting team provides water quality and biological specialist surveys, data analysis and reporting to provide evidence and inform environmental outcomes and decision making. Our evidence enables the delivery of environmental outcomes meeting Environment Agency statutory and national requirements.
We are seeking someone with both field and office experience. You will be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and possess proven ability and / or knowledge of
• water quality and / or biological survey techniques;
• project management and good organisational skills;
• competent user of spreadsheets and databases;
• good communication and interpersonal skills;
• data analysis and interpretation skills.
• ability to provide appropriate targeted reports for both a technical and general audience.

Hold a full driving licence.
