In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and coaching the team with your experience and technical knowledge in construction and maintenance. You will be self-motivated to seek and act upon opportunities to innovate and expand the volume and variety of what we deliver. You will assist our teams to plan resources ahead, and will coach and mentor teams to enable this. You will see work programmes and projects through from creation to completion, take responsibility for work specifications and work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
We are not just looking for technical knowledge, we are also looking for people confident to lead. You will support your team leader, and will be a confident and visible leader to the team, recognised as someone who leads by example and clearly sets expectations around behaviours and attitudes.
You’ll take part in a call out rota, leading teams to respond to a wide variety of incidents including both pollution and flooding.
Our teams are based at Askham (near Retford) and Gainsborough. We deliver a maintenance programme on watercourses across the area and respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night. We provide advice and support to our colleagues in our Asset Performance, Hydrometrics, Biodiversity and Environment Management teams. We also work across the country when called upon to assist other areas in flood and environmental incident response.

- understand site health, safety and environmental requirements (must include knowledge and experience of CDM working practices)
- competently use a variety of IT packages and systems, including iPads
- deliver and lead training and briefings
- manage contractors
- manage the legal and contractor requirements to undertake vermin control (Gainsborough post only)
The ideal candidate will also understand site plant, plant hire principles and construction works
Some travel to remote sites will be required and therefore a full valid driving licence is essential.
