This role is extremely varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills. This role will be split between the Thames Estuary 2100 (TE2100) delivery team and the Flood Risk team that support the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC).
Working closely with other teams, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:
• Engaging with a range of customers, including the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Committee
• Work with the Thames Estuary 2100 team, providing support with their work monitoring change in the estuary and implementing the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan.
• Gaining some understanding on the 6 year investment programme for the Thames catchment.
• Responding to enquiries, often using GIS.
• Providing a secretariat role to two high profile Governance Boards, including drafting basic papers.
• Maintain and monitor the team’s SharePoint site
• Updating and monitoring the team’s project plan.
In order to manage your diverse workload you will need to be able to manage your time well to ensure you deliver to tight deadlines.
The London team work with partners to minimise flood risk across London now and in the future. The team influence strategies and plans to ensure flood risk does not increase as London grows but also wider integrated environmental benefits are planned for. We work with the Thames RFCC to help them deliver their objectives and you will work with the TE2100 team, who work with a wide range of partners to deliver the TE2100 plan.
You will have good communications skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners. It’s advantageous to have a project/programme management and/or a customer-oriented background too. You are required to have experience in at least one of the following areas:

• Be skilled at managing multiple priorities and competing demands
• Be able to show where you’ve worked with others to deliver success
• Be an intelligent problem solver, with a methodical work approach
• Strong IT skills (full Microsoft office suite, GIS and some experience in managing and presenting information)
• A knowledge of SharePoint is preferable
• Have an engineering or science background and, ideally, a relevant degree (or equivalent) or professional qualification
