We’re looking for an energetic and dynamic individual to join Producer Responsibility Regulatory Services (PRRS).

You will lead a team to carry out packaging, batteries and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) producer and UK data regulatory activities by providing technical advice and support to colleagues and customers, contributing to understanding the UK’s recycling performance against EU targets.

You will ensure; decisions are made on sound technical grounds, locally agreed timelines are met; provision of value for money in line with Defra’s strategy and excellent customer service.

Specifically, your role will require ensuring Producers, Treatment Operators and Compliance Schemes have provided accurate data within statutory deadlines for publication.
In 2016, through environmental regulation, we helped divert 8.8 million tonnes of waste from landfill by supporting industry, business and public bodies to take responsibility for waste produced, imported, sold and used.

To ensure the UK complies with targets we:

• issue advice and guidance;
• register producer and compliance scheme obligations;
• permit operators to issue evidence of recovery/recycling;
• risk profile compliance monitoring
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the departmental business plan by planning the delivery of producer and UK Data activities;

• Work with the Team Leader to secure required levels of resource, highlighting resource issues;

• Coaching, mentoring and training of others to increase resilience, ensuring up to date work instructions are available for business continuity arrangements;

• Promoting coherent ways of working across teams and a culture of ‘one team’;

• Analysis of issues and problems, identifying solutions, taking remedial action and communicating effectively;

• Ability to produce factually accurate reports following collation, analysis and interpretation of data and/or information;

• Ensure the timely delivery of activities within the team and across the wider business, providing support to colleagues;

• Competent use of Access and Excel Microsoft applications are desirable.
