You will help Project Managers to work with customers and communities to manage our reputation around major infrastructure projects such as airport expansions and new railway lines. You will be an engagement expert, advising and supporting project teams dealing with flood risk management, water resources, and other emotive issues.
You will mentor staff through the Working with Others process, creating engagement plans and helping to involve local people in our decisions and strengthen our partnerships. You will create clear and concise communications material, following our brand and Plain English principles. You will evaluate all engagement to ensure we achieve objectives, and share good practice.
You will identify opportunities for further partnership working and manage our reputation during incident response and recovery.
Our engagement officers help teams to engage with customers, communities and partners. They protect our reputation and ensure we give clear, consistent messages around sensitive and emotive issues. Our enquiries officers act as detectives using knowledge, technical skills and colleagues to answer customers’ questions. Our diverse range of customers can ask about any aspect of our work so we need to know who to talk to get the information we need.
You must be an excellent communicator, able to produce high quality, plain English correspondence. You must be confident talking to customers and colleagues, on the phone and face to face.

You must have experience of influencing colleagues and engaging with local communities. You must be organised, able to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. You must be willing to learn some technical aspects of the major infrastructure industry so you can tailor our communications and create key messages.

You should be competent using Excel, Word and GIS systems. A positive attitude is essential!
