We are looking for a Land Contamination Technical Specialist to join our Groundwater, Hydrology and Contaminated Land team. You will lead on the technical area of land contamination within the team, but you will also provide expertise on the protection of groundwater quality and resources.

You'll establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their activities and promote and enhance Environment Agency goals and reputation. You'll use established influencing skills to deliver successful outcomes, making the best use of internal and external opportunities.
The Groundwater, Hydrology and Contaminated Land team is a multifunctional team focussed on protecting our ground and surface water resources, improving water quality and dealing with the legacy of land contamination.

We also work to ensure there is sufficient water for people and the environment, and to minimise flooding, by monitoring, assessing and forecasting on the water environment across the north east.
You will be qualified to at least degree level in a relevant discipline. A relevant post graduate qualification is desirable, as is evidence of steps made towards achieving relevant professional chartership. You will be required to have the proven ability and/or knowledge of:

- Hydrogeology
- Thinking in 3D and conceptualisation
- A working knowledge of UK legislation regarding land contamination, and in particular Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990
- Applying a risk based approach to your work
- Conveying complex information quickly, accurately and successfully to internal and external customers
- The ability to make decisions based on complex information
