We are looking for an experienced environmental professional who will be responsible for the regulation of installations under the Environment Permitting Regulations 2016, to ensure regulated sites comply with their permits, assessing their ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise use of resources.

You will use your influencing and negotiating skills to secure best practice often dealing with people at senior levels within industry, local communities and other interested groups. At times you will set conditions under which a site may continue to operate and enforce the law should they fail to comply. You will also respond to and investigate incidents making sure suitable preventative and protective action is implemented.

The work will focus on and support the proposed expansion at London Heathrow Airport as well as other Major Infrastructure Projects in the Hertfordshire and North London Area. You will be required to travel for meetings to London Heathrow Airport as well as other locations including central London.

Salary will be based on experience and skills.
We are creating a new team which will provide a dedicated full time resource, with a greater ability to focus wholly on the proposed expansion at London Heathrow Airport as well as other Major Infrastructure Projects. The team will consist of specialist staff across a number of disciplines who will be contributing their expertise and knowledge to the project.
We are seeking a person with industrial and/or regulatory experience preferably in landfill or waste/biowaste sectors or good chemistry knowledge (chemicals industry sector or waste analysis) or landfill engineering and who will quickly become operationally effective.
• You will be able to demonstrate your practical operational experience and knowledge of environmental regulation.
• You will have experience of delivering environmental improvements using a range of tools.
• You will be self-motivated and a confident communicator, used to influencing and negotiating to deliver outcomes, with strong interpersonal skills.
• The successful applicant may be required to work across a number of industrial sectors but will focus on one or two.
• Full UK driving licence.
