We are looking for a confident and efficient Technical Officer to work flexibly in response to internal and external priorities to provide technical support to Water Framework Directive (WFD) / Restoring Sustainable Abstraction (RSA) delivery within the Technical and Advisory unit of the River Basin Management Service (RBMS). You will be expected to:-

Provide technical advice and support to Operations on Water Resource WFD and RSA work;

Collate, analyse and report water resources data as part of the quality assurance of Operational RSA and WFD work to meet corporate measures;

Support delivery of RSA schemes;

Publish RSA notices for licence changes;

Support in managing RSA appeals and hearings being led by Areas;

Research and compile information/briefing material to provide effective, clear and concise information to customers and partners;

Develop and maintain a strong customer focus to ensure effective relationship building and partnership working to achieve environmental goals.
The River Basin Management Service works to secure the greatest possible outcomes across key stakeholders, influencing significant investment in the water environment. The four Technical and Advisory teams are the engine room of the service and provide technical analysis and delivery around strategic planning for both water quality and water resource functions. The teams work together to ensure that functional skills are enhanced and developed through a portfolio approach, aligned to key customers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who wants to develop a career and increase their knowledge in water resource planning and play their part in shaping the future of strategic water resources in England. You will have proven technical experience in water resource planning. You will have good communication skills focusing on internal and external customers' needs with a track record for working well to deadlines to pressured situations. You will have good written and spoken communication skills. You will be well organised, able to manage yourself and your own work effectively. You will have strong experience of data and information management so you must be competent in using various IT applications. You will be able to work as part of a supportive team working with people based remotely from yourself.
