We are looking for an energetic and inspirational person to lead our Flood Resilience Team. You will need to be a visible leader and an excellent communicator, with the ability to influence and work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and partners. You will need to bring a passion to the role and in return be supported by great people in the area.
The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic about developing themselves and others and will be a positive role model who creates an open, inclusive, caring and trusting culture which supports people to perform at their best.
The Flood Resilience Team Leader is a key role in managing flood risk in the beautiful area of Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The post reports to our Area Flood and Coastal Risk Manager and manages a team of 11 experienced staff who are key to ensuring ourselves, partners and communities are prepared for flooding.

The role is also part of the DCIS FCRM Management Team, providing direction and support to the department’s 60+ FCRM staff and ensuring efficient and effective delivery for the business.
The Flood Resilience Team ensures we are resilient and ready for incidents by:
• Maintaining our flood warning systems;
• Training and supporting incident staff;
• Working with communities at risk from flooding, providing advice on what to do before, during and after flooding; and
• Working with our professional partners to ensure we all pull together for the best response.
• An ability to motivate and inspire your teams, providing leadership and direction, prioritising team activities to deliver our resilience and flood incident management objectives.
• An ability to develop the team and support individuals in achieving their full potential.
• Leading and supporting team members through change.
• Strong communication skills and a proven track record in delivering through others.
• A desire to enhance the environment.
• An understanding of the principles of flood resilience.
• You’ll also have or be expected to take on an incident response role, depending upon your circumstances.
This is a temporary role with the possibility of being made permanent
