We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and adaptable individual to join the PSO team. Your main role will be in the Flood Risk Planning and Permitting work stream. You will:
- Make sure that works near, and developments adjacent to, watercourses conform to various legislation and will not increase flood risk
- Work with the Sustainable Places team to respond to development proposals
- Determine Flood Risk Activity Permits (with support as necessary)
- Communicate complex information on sensitive and high profile issues in a manner that is tailored to your audience

You will also enhance the Areas incident response capability by having an incident management role.
PSO work with Risk Management Authorities and communities to design, develop, fund and deliver flood risk management assets. We compile and use available evidence through mapping, modelling and data work to inform our plans and investment programme. PSO provide advice on Flood Risk Assessments, working with Sustainable Places to influence location and design of developments. We issue Flood Risk Activity Permits to protect the environment, prevent increases in flood risk and ensure adequate land drainage.
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation for the Flood Risk Planning and Permitting work stream
- Working under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and solve problems
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- Organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office (strong Excel skills are desirable) and other relevant applications
- Knowledge of, and experience working on, Projects, Working with Others and/or Evidence and Risk work stream
