Lead Team Member 1 - £18,231 Lead Team Member 2 - £20,041
Within our Operational Field team, you'll have what it takes to lead the daily tasks of a small team to complete our routine work programme and respond to incidents and emergencies. You'll help manage river and channel defences, working to counteract the causes of flooding and pollution.

Delivering routine maintenance for our assets, you'll protect properties and infrastructure by maintaining flood defences and river channels. This physical role involves working in a team, outside in all weathers. We undertake a range of activities, from strimming, river management, debris and tree clearance to minor construction and maintenance.

We act quickly when floods or environmental emergencies occur, so you'll take part in an emergency call out rota to respond and operate our assets such as pumps, sluices and flood gates.
Health and safety is very important and you'll need a positive and flexible attitude when leading a small field based team.

The teams are based in Hertfordshire, north, east and west London and respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night.

We work across the country, when called upon, to assist other areas in incident response and environmental incidents.
You should demonstrate a positive adaptable approach and a 'can do' attitude as a worthy team player and lead team member.
Good organizational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure during incidents are essential, making decisions where appropriate.
You must understand site health and safety requirements and risk assessments and be experienced in leading a team showing a confidence in the delivery of their daily tasks.
You'll be a good communicator with excellent team working skills and the ability to deal with members of the public, contractors and partners.
We would like you to have a good level of environmental awareness and experience with tablet style computers and familiarity with mobile technology will be useful.
You must be available for 24 hour standby arrangements and travel to a number of sites.
A full UK driving licence is required.
Closing date: 31st March 2017 at 23:55 hours
