This is an exciting opportunity to join the Flood Resilience team and make a real difference to how we prepare for and respond to incidents in Kent & South London.

You’ll help to minimise the impact of flooding on communities through the provision of an effective Flood Warning service. You will do this by helping analyse, interrogate and manage our data and systems. You’ll also support maintaining the tools and procedures our duty officers use.

As a member of the Flood Resilience Team you’ll be expected to work across other functions of the team to support important areas of work, such as engaging with communities and enhancing the way we plan, respond and recover from incidents.
The Flood Resilience Team is at the heart of the Environment Agency's incident management in Kent & South London. It is our job to ensure that we, our partners, and our communities are prepared for flooding, and able to respond effectively before, during and after a flood. We do this by managing our incident management arrangements, our Flood Warning service, and building resilient communities.
You’ll have an understanding of different sources of flooding and flood mechanisms. You’ll also have an awareness of the Environment Agency’s Flood Warning service. An awareness of telemetry and hydraulic modelling is desirable but not essential.

You’ll be able to demonstrate your experience of using GIS and other software packages to undertake tasks involving data.

You’ll be a good communicator, able to explain technical information clearly. You’ll be a motivated self-starter, keen to take ownership of tasks to deliver positive outcomes.

You'll work well under pressure, prioritising a varied workload with support, whilst working flexibly and at pace when needed.

You'll be organised and have excellent attention to detail, delivering work to a high standard. You’ll have proven experience of supporting administrative processes and understand the importance of accurate information and procedures.
The role will be based in Orchard House, Addington and interviews will be held on Mid November 2019.
