We’re looking for a Planning Officer to join our Evidence and Risk Planning Team. We enable and drive delivery for our Evidence and Risk Teams, focussing on providing high quality business intelligence for a range of audiences relating to the incredible work we deliver in our technical teams.

In this role you will:

•Interrogate, analyse and share our business intelligence data and information for Evidence & Risk delivery teams to internal audiences.
•Ensure a consistent approach to resource management in our teams and provide technical support for our capacity and planning tool "One Programme".
•Nurture our critical relationships within Evidence & Risk, seeking opportunity to provide efficiency to how we manage our resources.
•Put into practice your transferrable skills drawn from areas that may include mathematics, data and information management, science, and/or coding.
•Work as part of a team to support each other’s learning and development, adapting to the needs of the business
Evidence and Risk are part of the Incident Management and Resilience Team. We are responsible for setting standards, contributing to research and development, and we are actively influencing future change, shaping the way we manage and respond to the climate emergency. We are a national team with colleagues located throughout England, specialising in fluvial and coastal flood modelling and forecasting, hydrological assessments, flood modelling and hydrology improvements, mapping and analytics, data improvements, and skills development.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:

•Experience in data processing and GIS software packages;
•Good data management, and understanding of quality assurance of data;
•Excellent communication skills and an ability to build relationships, collaborating and agreeing expectations to deliver outcomes;
•The ability to influence and persuade effectively;
•The ability to achieve results, directly and through others;
•Experience in prioritising and managing your workload effectively;
•Good problem solving and decision-making skills;
•A curious, inclusive, and open mindset;
•A drive to develop your own behaviours and skills, and those of your peers.

Desirable skills:

•An understanding of the importance of evidence in informing flood risk decisions;
•Knowledge and experience in hydraulic modelling;

The key things we are looking for are transferable skills and capabilities. Do not be put off applying if you do not have a degree and/or direct experience in this sector.
