We are the Environment Agency. We protect and improve the environment. Acting to reduce the impacts of a changing climate on people and wildlife is at the heart of everything we do.

Incident management is one of the Environment Agency’s top priorities. Our ambition is to be a professional, trusted emergency responder; helping people, businesses and the environment be more resilient to natural threats and environmental hazards.

In this role you will be able to make a real difference for people and wildlife, by helping to ensure we’re prepared for future flooding or environmental incidents. You will join our team of experienced emergency planners to coordinate our internal resilience and training delivery.

You can expect to be involved in the following:

• ensuring we are resilient, and prepared to respond effectively to flooding and environmental incidents in the East Midlands;

• developing and delivering a plan that ensures we have enough trained and capable staff to respond to major incidents;

• finding innovative ways to efficiently deliver training and development for our incident responders, that builds confidence and capability for all in the East Midlands;

• supporting our emergency response when flooding or environmental incidents occur.
You will be based in our Nottingham office as part of a team who are passionate about protecting people and the environment from the worst effects of natural hazards and environmental incidents. We have set ourselves an ambitious target to increase the number of staff who are trained and capable to respond to incidents. You will help us by ensuring that we provide high quality training and exercises that build skills and confidence.
The following would be advantageous:

• experience in planning and delivering a broad range of high quality learning and development solutions, for a diverse range of learners;

• experience and/or qualifications in emergency planning and disaster management would be beneficial but not essential;

• the ability to lead and coordinate the delivery of work through multidisciplinary task groups;

• excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver engaging training sessions and presentations;

• the ability to work under your own initiative to analyse risk, and develop solutions to continuously improve our incident management service;

• the ability to organise, analyse, and present data so that it can be used as evidence to shape our priorities and work planning;

• the ability to work flexibly and reactively in a dynamic work environment. You will be able to adapt your approach and workplans when we are responding to a live incident.
We offer a fantastic benefits package which includes
• flexible working hours;
• generous annual leave entitlement of 27 days;
• up to 15 days Flexi leave per year;
• a multi award winning Environment Agency Pension Fund;
• training and development;
• opportunities for in-work qualifications.
We are proud to be a Stonewall Top 100 Employer, and a study by the jobs’ website Glassdoor shows that we are among the best employers for offering staff a good work-life balance.
