We are looking for a competent, enthusiastic and conscientious individual primarily to lead and develop the earthwork construction team within the Gainsborough Field Operations team in East Midlands (North).
The succession plan for this role is to become a Specialist Team Member so we would expect the successful candidate to see this as their progression route.

As well as being part of the reoccurring maintenance delivery team you will be expected to lead a team delivering small earthworks/construction projects throughout the East Midlands (North) area. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the site ensuring all work is carried out efficiently, within budget and most importantly, in line with current Health and Safety procedures and Agency policy.

You must be a positive role model for other Lead Team Members, Team Members and actively coach others to ensure we build a stronger more competent construction team.
You will provide operational support, by assessing and monitoring environmental and safety critical systems on behalf of the work group. During times of leave/sickness you will be expected to deputise as a Specialist Team Member where you will be involved in the daily organisation and supervision of the Field Operations Team.
The Field Operations Team is responsible for delivering a programme of maintenance and improvement works to rivers and Flood and Coastal Risk Management assets, whilst being prepared to react to incidents across East Midlands Area and when necessary in other Areas. We also provide support and advice to other parts of the business for example Fisheries, Hydrometry and Environment Management.
• You must be experienced and competent in a variety of heavy construction plant operations. Ideally earthworks, embankment construction, drainage, piling
• Working knowledge and experience of flood risk management policy, strategy, health and safety (CDM) and environmental legislation
• Appointed Person – Plan and supervise lifting operations on site
• Inspect and maintain assets including major pumping stations and flow control structures
• Undertake compliance checks on Pumping Stations, for example SEMA audits
• LOLER and PUWER compliance lead
• Collecting collating and recording data for example annual compliance checks
• Lead on site, ensure staff work safely at all times
• Lead teams responding to flood and environmental incidents
• Produce Health Safety and Risk Management documentation
• Provide coaching and encouragement on site
• Have basic IT skills with the ability to produce word/excel documents with a good understanding when working with smartphones and tablets
The post is permanent, full time (37 hours per week) and based at Gainsborough Depot.

You’ll be required to travel to the depot and between sites therefore, a full UK driving licence is required.

You will be required to participate in the incident response rota and subsequent incidents.
