Our Operations department helps maintain watercourses and flood defences that contributes to the whole asset management life cycle. The work we deliver protects people and property from flooding and plays a vital role in protecting wildlife throughout the region. As a team member 2 you will primarily work outdoors using tools and machinery that you will have received training for. You will use an iPad on a daily basis and be open to using several applications to record information. As a category one first responder you will hold an incident response role which can involve responding to events such as flooding, environmental incidents and many more.
As part of a committed field team in Hertfordshire and North London, you’ll enjoy the physical demands of a role where you’ll be involved in everything from asset maintenance, conveyance works, training exercises, minor construction maintenance and emergency works for incident response. Carrying out incident response and reducing flood risk are key activities.
You’ll be working in all weathers, so you’ll need a positive outlook for working in challenging environments. An interest in using and being trained in power tools is essential. The Environment Agency has an emergency response role in attending flooding and pollution incidents, you’ll be committed to taking part in a 24/7 standby rota.
You’ll be fit and enthusiastic with a positive attitude and having an understanding of environmental issues to help us ensure work is delivered in a safe and environmentally sensitive way. You must also be self-motivated ideally having some experience in a similar role.

A full UK driving license is required.
