The diverse nature of the Environment Agency provides ever-evolving challenges for our Employment and Information Law Team. Here, you will have the opportunity to own interesting caseloads and make your mark in a national organisation that promises a good work-life balance, generous defined-benefits pension scheme and great professional development.

In this role, you will work closely with Human Resources and staff providing advice on a range of technical issues while developing your knowledge of employment and information law. This will include conducting litigation before tribunals, advising on the information we hold under the Data Protection Act 2018 and on the information we make available under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

No two days will be the same, from providing high quality advice that supports employment investigations to advising on correspondence in response to information requests.

You will use your organisational skills to manage a busy workload with a degree of autonomy and have a proven track record of delivering high quality legal advice that is fit for purpose.
This role is based in our Employment and Information Law team of specialist lawyers who work closely with a wide range of internal clients.
You must be a fully qualified lawyer (solicitor, barrister or legal executive) with some relevant experience so you are able to advise on a range of technical issues relating to employment and information law. You will be confident and credible, able to combine first-class communication skills with strong analytical skills and able to pick up new areas quickly. You will also have experience of influencing and persuading people at all levels, and the ability to interpret technical legal areas.
The Environment Agency offers a career average pension scheme and a commitment to continuing professional development.
The post is full-time but we welcome applications from candidates seeking flexible working patterns including job-share. Please highlight any information regarding preferred flexible working arrangements in your application.
