In this role you’ll be leading us to exemplary asset management and implementation of the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan, the strategy to manage tidal flood risk in London and the Thames Estuary to 2100. You will work with our area teams and the pathfinder Thames Estuary Asset Management 2100 Programme to evolve our approach to managing the tidal flood risk system which includes the Thames Barrier and 8 other flood barriers, over 350km of walls and embankments, and more than 400 other structures.

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual who can ensure we manage this essential resource to the highest standard and in a consistent way across the estuary. You’ll be the change lead for modernising Asset Management developing consensus on what we need to be doing in the Thames Estuary to deliver value for money and be ready for the future
As part of Flood and Coastal Risk Management in the London Area we play an essential role in enhancing and sustaining our capital. We seek and act on opportunities to engage with others, fostering working relationships with key London organisations and our Area and National Office teams. We work collaboratively with the TEAM2100 programme, comprising around 150 delivery partner and Environment Agency staff, working in a supportive environment with a clear sense of purpose.
A proactive and determined individual who excels at getting things done in a timely manner and encourages other to do the same.
The ability to build relationships, build virtual teams and encourage action towards any future tasks, respectfully challenging and changing behaviour as necessary.
A strategic thinker with analytical skills who can understand the vision for the future and lead people towards that future state whilst judging when attention to detail is important.
Project and/or programme management experience.
Prioritising work and taking risk based decisions based on evidence.
Experience of managing complex asset management projects involving multiple stakeholders would be beneficial as would an understanding of climate change science.
In addition to your degree (or equivalent) in an environmental or engineering discipline, it is desirable that you are a member of Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management or equivalent (or be committed to achieving this).
The role is split between in 2 Marsham St, London and the TEAM2100 Offices at Victoria Station and London weighting will therefore apply to the role. It will involve occasional travel within the Thames Estuary to meet with other teams.

Manages Change
A key part of your role will be to facilitate and enable change to the way we plan our asset management in the estuary. Describe how you have approached planning and implementing change in one of your previous roles. Make sure you explain what your role was and how you built and sustained relationships in the process and what you learnt from it.
