You will be joining a crucial area of the business and will be accountable for some of our most demanding Projects and Packages of Projects, from initial strategic planning through to implementation, construction and delivery.
You will also motivate and coordinate team members and external suppliers to ensure excellent standards are upheld. Client liaison and stakeholder engagement will sit at the heart of your role, so you’ll be confident in building excellent working relationships.
You’ll face a portfolio of projects with day-to-day oversight and be responsible for the performance of all aspects of projects in your portfolio, supported by project teams inclusive of specialists and suppliers.
You’ll build and enhance a great working environment, being a key figure within our local leadership group. You'll demonstrate excellent behaviours, collaborative working and build a strong network of working relationships inside and outside the organisation.
You’ll play a key role in project discussions, working with other senior PCM roles to ensure effective use of resources in your portfolio. You’ll be confident in escalating issues (complex technical issues) raised by your projects. A strong problem solver, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) adapting programme delivery when key issues escalate.
We are Programme and Contract Management (PCM) Team, creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. Our teams provide the Environment Agency with an effective project, contract and programme management service. Our well-qualified staff manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver flood risk management, environmental improvements and shared ownership with local communities.
Preferably qualified to degree level/equivalent in engineering, environmental or geography discipline with chartered membership of relevant professional body eg ICE, CIWEM or APMP, not essential if you have experience and proven record of great leadership. Understanding Asset Management and Programme Management desirable but not essential.
Inspiring, innovative, passionate team leader, to build great working environments, collaborative and high performing teams in different locations. Skilled in developing & coaching technical staff, managing performance, building inclusive relationships, resource management, embedding excellence, knowledge sharing with excellent communication and influencing skills without necessarily having technical knowledge.
Experience working with people at all levels, with different perspectives and drivers; ideally delivery partners or external organisations, building on shared outcomes
Technical knowledge or qualifications such as project management, risk or change management, flood & coastal risk management, asset management, business case development, modelling & hydrology, data management (BIM), engineering and H&S is advantageous but not essential.
Salary – Grade 6 £46,374

Occasional travel (regionally or nationally) and overnight stays may be required once government Covid-19 restrictions are eased.
